How about the fact that producers shouldn't RAPE PERFECTLY DECENT SONGS TO MAKE THE "DANCABLE"
This song didn't need a remix. It isnt a dance song. These sorta remixes cheapen Electronic Dance Music as a whole.
Your remix of that Death Cab song was good. The song worked as a dance track (its pretty upbeat originally) but this song NO.

From the Signalrunners MySpace blog:

Hi guys-
Just wanted to give you an update about this track, as we've received boatloads of emails and myspace messages regarding our bootleg of the beautiful "Chicago", originally by Sufjan Stevens. We've (drumroll.....) finally cleared the sample! Our publishers (Steve Burton / Chris Sills of A7/Fat Fox) have worked extremely hard to accomplish this, and we are so thankful I cannot even put it to words!! Originally this just started as a project directly out of boredom and curiosity, but it actually turned into something quite special.
So yes, this means this track will get released. When? I'm not too sure. Things take very long in this industry, so it really depends on how lucky we are throughout the process. I know it's been a really long wait, which I'm sorry for, but it will hopefully all be worth it in the end. We're working with Sufjan's people to get an acapella of the track so that we can do some additional mixes to bring the release some more freshness...so there will be some unheard stuff there too!
We will be keeping you guys updated through our myspace about further developments with this track
I really like the original, I don't think the remix deserves quite all the shit it's getting, I would like a copy to play in my sets, have people recognize it at parties and so fourth. Signalrunners are pretty decent producers IMO, they shouldn't necessarily get judged solely on a pop bootleg.
How many pop bootlegs are really all that great anyways?

It's an OK track, don't think that it's comparible with some of Blake Jarrel's crossover remixes but it's a solid track from a very good production outfit

you can't really compare Blake's bootlegs to this. What SR did with Chicago is way more intricate and innovative than the re-hashed sound you hear in all of Blake's reworks. The rhythm, bassline, and instrumentation (much more innovative synths on Chicago) don't even compare to the very normal sounds Blake uses.
not bashing Blake, I do like some of his bootlegs, but this just stands in a completely different league.

I agree with your point mate, I wasn't really making a direct comparison between this track & the Blake tracks, just commenting that I feel Blake's works with rock/pop songs are my some of my favourites, as I said this is a good solid track too
