mate, garnier is not only about techno, its about good music, techno 10 years ago was great, these days the rolling percussion based techno might be gone, but it is still the most forward thinking genre there is!

think back when harthouse/eyeq records churning out the early trance records and when you heard der dritte raum stuff for example, you would go "what the fuck is this?!?!" and "where the fuck can we go and listen to this sort of music!??!" .. fast forward to 2007 and i listen to kanzelarmt/bpitch/kompakt stuff and i had the same reaction

in my opinion, there is no better time, to start listening to techno (if you haven't already) than right now. garnier might have moved on but he's still one of best and i believe his set will represent some of the best music available out there today!
