Thanks seppa, yea its kind of a weird question/comment. I was just wondering how knowing theory helps exactly. I know a lil bit of theory, but i don't know if there is more to it exactly. ill be taking a theory class next semster.

very funny you should say that. I am going to school for post production for movies, and doing the music as well. I would love to move into producing for people, or engeneering even. but thats really hard work. Right I want to produce to push my djing name out there, but lol its funny im not even focused on Djing right now. I am going to start promoting Demo cd's again but man thats a pain in the ass and a full time job takes it out of you.

That's the problem with djing and so forth it doesn't pay up much,we all need to have jobs to earn money and that's not always what we really want to do. that's how I figured I might as well learn music properly and make music for film and adverts, there's much money there + I think it's really interesting. This way you earn doing what you really love.

You could only learn so much by using the trial and error method..i know cuz I’ve been using this method for almost 7-8 years now..i actually learned a lot just by trying out new ideas and also by trying out different styles of music learning how melodies work In each one and combining those ideas..but the bottom line is if you wanna fully understand it you need to go to school and take courses..

I don't think so I just feel it is good to do it now, so I can add this to my current knowledge of music. I did not start producing yesterday and I'm happy with what I do. But it doesn't pay up much. I love films and ultimatly I'd love to make music for films. But I'm not naive , I'll probably start making music for commercials first, It's less prestigious but we got to start somewhere right.

I do Agree with you 100% !!!! If your heart is not in it your can try and try unless you are gifted its not gonna happen. fortunaly for me I love music with all my heart. And I won't give up until I do what I want to do. I've been caught up in my lazyness for quite sometime, but its over. I actually started doing what i didn't like a Year ago ( sound desining) and the outcome was and is very rewarding, now I got into learning theory through the internet and again it s rewarding, so I want to push it and push it always more. That 's the way to go at least for me. from one track to another I need to see a real improvement. Even if the new stuff is not always the best cause sometime i get too technical,it sounds good but where is the soul. It s not happening often though. Well I think I'm starting to get boring I better shut up .
cheers you guys !
