The thing that really pissed me off about the situation though is that at one point one of the guards was like, "Why should we let you into our country? Do you think I want to set foot in your country? No!" Like seriously...why would you even say that? If you don't like Canada, so be it, but ugh...it was just frustrating!!

Wow. I would've written a letter of complaint to a newspaper or to the US Immigration office. I have my fair share of 'dirt' against the Canadian immgration folks too, but I can't complain while my application is pending, for fear that they would deny my application.

Seriosuly, what is it about people in uniforms and God complexes? Between cops and immigration, I dont know who's worse.

Now that I think about it, I wish I had made a complaint to a newspaper. I'd be surprised is US Immigration would do anything.

But I agree...so many people in uniform think that uniform gives them free reign to act like complete asses. The worst I'd say was definitely my birthday story coming back from Ferry's private party in NYC last June. The cop who stopped me was a huge dick.

^^(This has happened to me so many times) BUT

on the way to Together as One, it was like 4am and we were the ONLY ones in line at the canadian border. They were complete dicks. They pulled us over, made us get out of the car, and sit in side while asking a million questions.

Rob had brought a flyer with TAO on it. They brought it over after taking apart the stuff in the car. They were waving the flyer at us going "Is THIS what you are going to?" "This is electronica music" "This is a RAVE" "Raves have drugs" "You have drugs????" "WHY didn't you tell us you were going to a rave??" LOL

Similar experience coming BACK from labour 2 years ago when the US custums TORE APART my car...threw my clothes, makeup and clothes EVERYWHERE!! etc for one full hour trying to look for the "drugs that I was transporting." they didn't even word it so that they would say something like "well we are randomly checking you." they said "You went to a rave, so you must have drugs in here and we will find it....we WILL FIND IT YOU HERE ME!!!." LOFL IDIOTS!!! I have to laugh now.

US custums wins for the biggest a-holes in those 2 situations.

Wow...shitty situations. I would be pissed. The way they treat people is unbelievable sometimes. TBH although inconvenient, I can understand their reasoning behind random searches for the most part - b/c looks can be deceiving right? I could bring a bomb across the border as easily as anyone else could. *Not meaning it's easy to do it...I'm saying that I'm as likely a candidate as the next joe* But what they did to you Kelly was clear stereotyping. They treated you like a drug addict just b/c you were going to a "so-called" rave.

Attitude for me is a big thing to. They can show authority without having to be dicks about it. In your situation, even if the stereotyping was excused they could have simply said, "Sorry for the inconvenience, but I hope you understand why we need to do this. The U.S. has had a big problem with drugs now and in the past, and we cannot take any chances. Electronic music parties have been known to have a lot of drug users, so we have to check" See how nicely they could have said that?!

Thats exactly what I am saying. The sad part is, is that those are only 2 examples of the MANY MANY times that they have been dicks about where I have been in relation to that "techno-music-stuff." I just picked the particular Labour incident to share because that was the time they DESTROYED my car. They empties out bottles and all sorts of shit. I was super pissed because I hadn't slept yet either LOL. fockers.

I have been asked questions drill-sargeant style when I tell them what I am doing in canada. I have since revised all of my stories to syaing "I am stayin with friends,"...... and that worked all the way up til TAO when they thought something was fishy because we failed to tell them about going to this "rave". They were really suspicious. lol

and btw LOL at the thought of you bringing a bomb across the border. thats too much!
