Depends on what kind of EDM we're talking about

Yea, I've seen hybrid live too, amazing
Or Kosheen for that matter, pretty nice too.
Don't forget Faithless . I've only seen them on tv though .

Thing is, in general, it's the mostly talented artists that do live shows. And I consider mixing tracks in one to another less of an art than a liveshow. Especially in EDM if it has to be as tight mixed together as some of you mentioned (which I just don't agree with). If it should be performed to perfection and is done that way then than that's just really really impressive instead of a bad thing.

DJ-ing wasn't for 40.000 people either before the sensation parties at the Amsterdam Arena. Get moving and get on to 2007 .

I also tend to have a feeling not many of you have actually been to any EDM live acts... The live shows I've been too where far more impressive than any dj-only party I've been to.

It's amazing do see that pioneer cdj100 above Push' JP though I'd have to agree on this act probably being a load of crap

Speaking of Kosheen, I saw them play live and acoustic(as in with a couple of acoustic guitars, remember them?) with I think less than a hundred people and it was pretty amazing. So thats another option, EDM transferred to acoustic/ traditional electric instruments

Yes, before there was actual rapping (as opposed to MCing), calling it live music was not fully correct, but that was not rap, it was reggae, or some variant thereof. Rap proper is by definition live music.

And I'm glad they have.. my biggest problem with trance is the slow ass boring transitions all the djs make inbetween songs. Fills most mixes up with like 50% crap.

Then go listen to techno. You don't want to listen to trance.

Actually, I've always wondered about the Chemical Brothers. they seem to be either almost 100% sequenced (ie maybe add something over the top here or there) or it's just off a CD or similar. On their 93 - 03 DVD live shows, one stands around jumping up and down and putting hands up (in the air style), the other stands at the mixer seemingly playing with EQ, all on a stage with about 15+ synths. I read in an interview they make some beats up during soundcheck and use them in the show, but they rarely seem to be doing much. Never seen them in the flesh tho.

By the way, I thought Kosheen were more of a band than an electronic act, in that they crossed over to electronic? Hence the accoustic guitars. Could be wrong.

I dunno about that, isn't the band just sian and 2 DJs? Sian seems to have a more traditional background, but the other two I think just DJ...
