Gore's response is worth noting:

Not really, other than the fact that it's essentially a rationalization at best. Buying carbon credits is something that people do to help them sleep better at night, not to help the environment.

Oh, one last thing - how did this group get a hold of Gore's electricity bill? Is that not uhh, kinda sorta illegal?

Good question. I guess we should ignore it then. I'll bet he and Leo are both pretty pissed.

Man I wish the guy would pay money to remove an equivalment amount of carbon that he produced thus resulting in a net production of carbon in the atmosphere of zero ... oh wait.

He's not advocating that people should be living naked in the forest engaging in tree huggery with no electricity, cars, or meat folks.

/if only electricity could be generated by right wing hysteria around Al Gore or Hillary Clinton.

If memory serves, those claims were discredited in the same manner as those that are being discredited right now. Like Occ mentioned, what would you have him do? I'd love to have a fellow bretheren huggin' trees with me in my little forest, and of course Gore is more than welcome in my hippy librul wonderland, but I believe what he is doing with the carbon credits deserves respect and should be rightly considered into any criticism on him given. To their credit, folks at Faux News and some other media outlets are doing just that.

And what standard is that? This one?:

Hmmm, I just hate it when folks like that practice what they preach.

I guess I fail to understand any real valid criticisms here, unless you really feel he should be joining us naked hippie libruls in our hemp cloths out here in the wilderness.

Hmmm, I guess it could be worse - continually giving donations and paying off supposed "climatologists" to spread utterly unsound bullshit by think tanks like AEI, as well as spreading smear campaigns from your Right Wing echo chamber and allow it to spread like wildfire just like any handful of smear campaigns your wingnutters have allowed to fester.

Could he be doing more? Of course. Everyone could be doing more.

Is it nothing shy of laughable to hear criticism coming from Far Right Wingers who's sole mission is to mock and piss on anything they touch regarding the environment?

Uhh, kinda.

Cute.

what al gore does on his own green time has no bearing on the relevancy of his OSCAR WINNING documentary. even if hypothetically gore didn't follow any of his own advice, everything in the documentary is true and that doesn't change because al gore's mansion isn't up to green code.

this is being discussed because theres nothing else for the right-wingers to hang on to

quote:
"The right-wing is angry that Al Gore has won so much public attention and goodwill for his work on global warming...These are the lengths that climate skeptics must go to suppress action on global warming. There is no meaningful debate within the scientific community, so the right-wing busies itself with talk about how much electricity Al Gore?s house uses--and even then they distort the truth."

If you think you're much less of a hypocrite than Al Gore, please list us the things you have accomplished in the name of helping the environment ;-) Just because Al Gore is not an angel doesnt mean that his life-long campaign to spread awareness is bullshit. Thats just an excuse to ignore the environmental problems while in reality he has shown you the way that instead of criticising him and sitting there, you are supposed to carry on the program to help the environment. I mean, you've done a lot to help environment, right?

I find it silly how his entire campaign and work is being so easily dimissed by a bunch of ignorant and selfish anti-environment people who have found an excuse to do nothing themselves to improve the situation. Thats an ages old excuse for a status quo, and you know what - you're not the only one, but you have a global appeal - blaming others for your problems is much easier, even when these people have done much more to help the cause than you ever will.

One way or another, political smear campaigns can most of the time find something in the person they're trying to blemish. So lets forget everything that Al Gore said, and continue on with our ways, eh?

If a hypocrite told you not to jump off a bridge and then jumped himself, you would follow him off the ledge?

I dunno. When have I ever claimed to be an environmentalist? I can tell you that my "carbon footprint" is virtually zero compared to Mr. Gore and I don't even have to buy carbon credits to achieve that. I even have my own house and 2 cars. Yay me!

No, but it doesn't mean he's beyond reproach either. I'm just calling 'em like I see 'em. God forbid we be honest here.

Yes. I mean he's truly showing us the way with his leadership by example. Christ, gimme a fucking break. Can we stop with the Al Gore dick-sucking festival for just 5 minutes puh-lease?

Well if he wasn't constantly being exposed for this exact sort of hypcorisy maybe he wouldn't be such an easy target, eh?

Hey genius--I haven't blamed anyone for anytyhing other than to point out that monsenior Gore is a flaming bag of alligator poo.

Here's a better idea. Let's just play the ole "do as I say, not as I do" game. Waddaya think?

Surely, bashing Al Gore will solve the environmental problems, no doubt about it Lets bash all other environment advocates as well while you're at it. Instead of facing the issues, let have a little fun, an excuse to forget about the situation
