in your case i'd take a look at the nuo 5

the AH62 is a nice mixer but i didn't like the cueing on it

i cue mainly in the headphones too and it just didn't work well for me, had to switch to using the monitors, the mixer wasn't set right to allow clean monitoring in the headphones

Would you say that the Nuo5 is much better than the DJM600?

I know I'm asking a lot of questions about this, but when I'm spending £650 on a mixer, I need to know that I've made the right decision.

I'd say the Nuo-5 is better than the DJM-600. It's built better, sounds better.

Unless you can buy a DJM-600 in great condition used for cheap, I wouldn't buy it at this point. It's sound quality leaves something to be desired, and they tend to fall apart after heavy use.

The Xone 62 is built like a tank, but again, as others have said I don't like the cueing system on it. The faders are also those studio style ones, which I don't care for. I have a 92, which is out of your price range, but it essentially corrects all of the quirks that exist in the 62.

The filters on the Xone's sound amazing. They are "similar" to the filters on the DJM-800 and such, but since they are totally analog they have this unique warm sound to them. They also come with a few more controls to alter the way they work, like resonance control and the ability to combine low-pass, bandpass and high-pass filters at once.

I used to have the Denon DN-X1500. It's not a bad mixer, but there are questions regarding fader lag and built-quality on some of the switches. It also used to run EXTREMELY hot, which always concerned me (Denon claims it's normal).

Since you're in the UK, you could snag a Urei 1620 for 599 pounds at htfr.com Not exactly what you are looking for I'm sure, but it'll last you a lifetime.

I think I really need to hear these Xone62 filters for myself before making any decisions. Would you rate the 62's filters higher than having a large selection of effects and filters on the Nuo 5 then?

Absolutely. The filters are usable not only as an effect, but for mixing. I'd take them over any other effect any day of the week.

Definately try out the 62. I mean, it has quirks, but most of them are things you can work around.

How would you use the 62's filters for mixing?

You can use either a low or high pass filter in place of/addition to eq's. Using the frequency sweep knob, you can control precisely what frequencies get through.

It's like having an continually adjustable high or low eq.

Also, playing with the resonance during a mix can give you some neat effects.

Thanks for all the advice you've given me. I'm gonna armed with this knowledge into HTFR (they're only 20 miles from my house) and test drive both mixers and see which one feels right.

One last question (I promise) what do you get extra on the xone 92 over the 62? And does it address the Cue problem? Is it really worth the extra £300 for the bedroom DJ?

Yeah. If you take a look at the A+H Xone V6/S6, they actually have a high pass filter on each channel in place of eq's. Allows for really smooth mixing!

The 92 was worth it for me. I also went with the rotary option.

The cueing is much easier to use, they provide a master/cue blend knob like on most other mixers. They also added an addditional auxilliary send/return.

You'll also notice the filters are completely independant on the 92, and you can assign them independantly of the crossfader.

The upfader model also has very different faders than the 62.

Try them both out!

Eh. I've never had a problem with cueing on xone62. I actually prefer the way it's set up.

Never regretted getting my xone62. Filters are fun! (just don't over use it during gigs)

If you cue using the monitors then you wont have a problem, but I cue within the headphones and apparently the 62 doesn't let you blend from cue to master within the headphones which is a big problem for me.

Interesting. I cue using headphones only too and I've never had a problem. Press both cue buttons on both channels and off I go. *shrug*
