Disco (and partly detroit house) is hugely influenced by homosexuals. Just look up any disco artist/producer and most of the time they are gay. Look at the history of Paradise Garage and Studio 54, mostly homosexual people again.
Look no further than the reasons behind Disco Demolition Night.
Here is a promising article which I have not read yet(found it just now when search for disco demolition and gay):
http://www.brumm.com/gaylib/disco/
| quote: | | Smelling the lure of large profits, the recording industry began to devise ways of bringing disco music to the masses. This was inevitable as the sound had become more and more popular. What the recording industry didn't care about was the fact that a lot of the masses weren't necessarily really all that interested in dancing, and many of the white straight males, in particular, did not like the sound of black people's music, women singers, and music rumored to have gay overtones. |
Another interesting read that I just found:

Taken from wikipedia's House Music
| quote: | The late 1970s saw disco utilize the (by then) somewhat developed electronic sound and a limited genre emerged, appealing mainly to gay and Black audiences. In 1977, disco music crossed over into the mainstream American culture, following the popularity of hit film Saturday Night Fever and its accompanying soundtrack. As disco clubs filled there was a move to larger venues. [...]
In Britain the growth of house can be divided around the "Summer of Love" in 1988. House had a presence in Britain almost as early as it appeared in Chicago; however there was a strong divide between the House music as part of the gay scene and "straight" music. House grew in northern England, the Midlands and the South East. Founded in 1982 by Factory Records the Hacienda in Manchester became an extension of the "Northern Soul" genre and was one of the early, key English dance music clubs. |
So there is some validity to the fact that electronic music is associated with homosexuals, but that is no reason to hate or discriminate. If people do, it goes to show how ignorant and misinformed they are. All that matters is if you enjoy the music and have a good time.
