This is what I am upset about , no one in all honesty would have given this track the time of day had he not worked for the station , there are TA's that have better tracks but I don't see Z rotating them , someone should look into how tracks are picked for radio play

I'm surprised that in order for a track to be nominated, it has to get significant radio play. That's like basing Oscars on box-office numbers. Fucking retarded.

Being a n00b to the scene, I have to say (and I say this with a qualification--I haven't turned on my radio in over a year) that it ain't all bad. z103.5 was a gateway to EDM for me, playing commercialized house and trance (lethal industry - tiesto) ..it piqued my interest to dig deeper...moved me from clubs like Tonic (ugh) and Menage (ugh) to finding places like Boa-Redux and the Guv on Saturday nights. Given that I live well out of the city, and don't have any friends into EDM, i honestly owe a good chunk of discovering EDM to guys like Danny D who mixed in some EDM into his daily drive at 5s. I didn't think the original air brake was bad; euro-dance-ish to the core, but didn't sound bad... his vocal version didn't do much for me. You wouldn't catch me listening to the Z nowadays, my tastes are so far beyond top40 that I'd rather claw my eyes out and drink vinegar through them before electing to listen to it again. But I do have to give some credit where it is do, at least in my experience, for bringing some EDM exposure to the 'commercialized masses.' Now whether he deserves a Juno or not *shrug*...he's a very public figure, and has (finally) produced a track that's not hard to listen to. Go team. Part of the appeal of afterhours and underground is that it is not 'public' in the same terms. I like the fact it isn't, that it is reserved for the discerning people that like more meat to their music...

The problem is the people who probably nominate the artists have no idea who Max Graham is.

Pretty sad...

I believe the 'EDM' genre falls under Category 9-39...where it seems like they get submitted with a cost associated with it. They are then judged/juried.

EDM artists aren't recognized enough here or sell enough to warrant automatic submission/nomination. Can't blame the dude if he and his people support him. Maybe Max and other's aren't worried about submitting.

The nominations are done by paying money, then the comitee looks at how much radio airplay it gets. Since Danny D is z103, he got enough charts cause of them to get a final nomination. He will finish last im sure. Hatiras or Sound Bluntz will get this one

Yeah I had to download airbreak to find a hear the song. Don't worry, i deleted it. For you anti-piracy TA's.

It wasn't even on youtube heh. I tried that first.

Anyways, songs meh, nothing special. It would be awesome if Danny D lurked the TOTA forums.

how the juno nominees are selected sometime is complete BULLSHIT! but, they still are Canada's music awards... Hatiras has won back to back Junos for the electronica juno, and that does say something. he's an amazing producer and DJ.

BUT

I agree with you all about this nomination. fucking Danny D has to be one of the worst god awful djs ive ever heard. that isn't house music he spins. thats top 40 over played garggle from 2005. the juno award committee should really take some time and investigate the music before they pick nominees. i really pray danny d crashes and burns on this one.

anyone know who he's up against?
