The man's technical skill and ability to program are unparalleled and at such a high level that yes - it can blow over your head if you're not watching for it.

This is a bad comparison (cheesy) but it's like upper-echelon art. Sometimes you have to put an effort in to really understand it ("get it").

agreed

In 2006, there is only one party that realy stands out for me and its Digweed at Dragonfly. The music that night was unbelievble. I simply never heard anything like it from anyone.

Digweed's style is great. I actualy used not like it (or not understand it). But now that i do, i realy appriciate it. Its Art. Its not just dance music its also music for your mind.

I cant say anything about his old style since i have only heard several sets of Sasha and Digweed circa 1999 - 2002, and never got to experiance it live. But right now, he is one his own level of prefection.

I simply cannot wait for him to return so that i can see him again.

I think this plays into it a bit, he can be hit or miss because he changes the set so much to match the night and crowd. If you show up for tech John, and get dark John, you may not like it, but his skill is always there.

I love DJs that make sure they play differently, because they know every party is not the same, and should not be the same.

Right now, I absolutely love his tech sound. Really pushing what I thought I liked.

I completely agree with you. I didn't mention that it was my first time seeing him live, and indeed the technical aspect left me awed. It was the track selection and programming that I felt wasn't the greatest. (there were some awesome mind fuck gems thrown down, but the way he blended them with filler didn't sound right to me at some points.)

God forbid if he did! That's a good thing

I like his darker, more progressive side but recently, he's been more into the techy stuff that I don't really care for.

So...maybe number 2? I dont know.

and, by Digweed being good, I mean July 2005 Essential Mix good. That shit just doesn't get old.

Eh. I see your point.
But I love it when a DJ diversify their sound, even if I don't dig (oops, bad pun!) their new sound.

Keep pushing the envelope. Experiment. Expand. Playing same style all the time bores me out. (Hence why a lot of trance DJs get stale fast, and why a lot of them are branching out to more housey sound)

Thats very similar to how I feel about Johan Gielen, as an aside.

I get it (and LOVE it), but I dont think many other ppl (here) do

Frankly I can't wait for Diggers to return to Toronto.

It's going to be a wonderful reunion.

Me too! We were super lucky to get two performances in 2005.

Although I didn't enjoy his set as system that much. He did play to the venue (dark, deep, proggy), so I have to give him credit. He made up for it by blowing me away at LoL that year.
