I tend to agree with you ali92.
I occasionally feel this place is turning more and more into a chat room with one-liners flying all over the place too. And I too can't keep up. (Incidentally I should probably say that I haven't got the chat-gene, which means I more often than not end up being misunderstood when I'm venturing into the realms of IRC, ICQ, SMS'ing and what have we. All of them forums where the conversation - to me - seems shallow and, even worse, dangerous for people practicing irony like myself.)
Furthermore the temporary nature of relationships are elucidated with forum members joining and leaving all the time. Except for a few fantastic individuals I've been hesitant to cultivate relations with other members as often they'll silently disappear after a while, leaving me with a sense of wasted effort.
However, somehow all this at the same time is the beauty of internet forums: you'll get all kinds of people here - including those that prefer communication with smilies and those of us who prefer the exhausting boring posts. And we can co-exist, I think, since you (and I) can read the short messages fairly quickly while those not reading posts like this one, will simply skip it. Additionally a quick comment does at least signify that somebody has read your post and gone through the trouble of replying. Think of it as a bonus, as the alternative would probably be that less people posted here.
Aahhh. Look at that. I only meant to post a quick note. Hope that I at least got my message through
