yes theres a lot of Melbourne event threads, yes it clutters it up a bit and probably does actually stifle worthwhile discussions about other stuff.
Yeah fuck it, chuck all the club nights into one thread, biggies like FMF, Armin Only, Godskitchen where people are likely to travel just for it or are part of a larger tour should be allowed to carry on as is.
The major problem is that any discussions about said night will become all intertwined and hard to follow, that'd suck a bit. But then I don't care cos Adelaide only has 1 worthwhile event/night a month so its not a problem for me.
Plus if you sticky the event thread for each capital, theres gonna be 14x10^73 stickies at the top of the page.
Theres also the chance of not seeing events or whatever if you don't check the thread/don't see it in amongst the other posts.
So in conclusion, I don't fuckin know |
im sure raistlin starts a thread about being worried that he listens to house music while he is drunk because melbourne events have stifled worthwhile discussion on other stuff. this site doesn't even have worthwhile discussion on anything! spend 5 minutes in the chill out room and read your worthwhile discussion.
i already mentioned that maybe there are a lot of melbourne threads because melbourne has a lot of events. dean also made this point. many of the posters from sydney dont post because they aren't even interested in trance music anymore or are soft cocks that "retire" from clubbing. you just said yourself adelaide has about 1 event a month that is worth it. so post about it! get some interest happening. who was that guy, solstice i think? who was running events and stuff in SA? whenever he has a thread about something i dont think that its cluttering the place. if there were 10 threads about adelaide events, i wouldnt care that its too many, id be worried why the fuck are all these things happening there and not here
paulie, gumble, adam jace, muli, jizza, a.j.
there's 6 people that don't post much here at all, i'd say i'm about 80% sure its because they arent interested in the music or the people than because there are too many melbourne event threads
most state or city specific threads seem to be tagged now so you know which ones to avoid if it bothers you. one last thing
DONT BE FUCKEN SCARED TO POST CAUSE YOU ARENT FROM MELBOURNE, ITS NOT LIKE WE ARE INTIMIDATING

ok, take all the event threads off and everyday threads may actually start. We've had 'proper' threads before. Look in ToTA, they have some worthwhile discussions (yeah some crap too) and no event threads. Look at UKTA, they only have event threads and zero discussion. If theres less event threads discussion about other stuff might pick up to fill the gap. Its a thought. By proper discussion threads i mean discussion about anything except events.
And yes Philby, if there was 1 Adelaide event a month its not cluttering the place up. But when theres 10 event threads a month it does.

which is pretty much exactly what one of my points was. Get rid of some of the event threads, these people might post more (and new people rather than coming in, oh fuck this its all Melbourne and leave), hence more discussion about other stuff.
I was rambling, just writing anything that popped into my head on either side, I wasn't trying to prove one point over another. I thought my last line made the pretty clear.
