It's a fucking civil war already. Things are apeshit RIGHT NOW. It's a lost fucking cause already. The only thing our military is doing is putting out a fire here and there, while more just spring up elsewhere at another time or place. It's the incessant game of whackamole that will not end. The insurgents merely drop their arms and blend into the crowd once we come knockin', only to pop back up when we have our backs turned or when they move on elsewhere.
The game is lost, and the sooner you war-supporters come to terms with that idea the quicker we'll be getting the fuck outa there.

Did I ever say or even imply that they'll "all of the sudden" stop killing each other? What I did say is that our presence is part of the problem and not the solution - that did not in any way imply that they'll all be wonderful peace makers once we get out of there.
The myriad of problems stems from a number of our personal blunders - completely gutting the governmental infrastructure once Saddam was thrown out was an obvious starting point that even Administration officials regret. But at present, the cold hard fact is our tactics have switched from training the Iraqis to defend themselves to a neverending game of insurgent whackamole.
You tell me, champ, and be honest here - you really think that our game of whackamole is going to give us the ultimate prize of peace and stability in Iraq? If so, support your answer with prior experiences with our war there in the past 4 years.
That's the problem you guys face, the one to which I keep repeating. You have not predicted one thing right with this war. NOT ONE. We have tried every avenue you've led us to, and each one has been a dead end. We are now attempting to quell violence by going door to door, street to street and hunt down the insurgents, which historically speaking hasn't exactly been the best tactic now, has it? We are also in essence fighting for a Shiite fundamentalist regime that's in leagues with Iran while they have vigalante Shiite death squads of their own kill and destroy Sunni loyalists. I think anyone with any sense of intelligence understands why the Sunni insurgents kinda sorta don't like us, and have no problems continuing to target us along with the Shiite factions and government officials.
Of course they're going to go after innocent civilians to cause unrest - that's a given. But has that stopped them from attacking our troops at all? Do you need trend numbers of our troop deaths to show you over the past few months?
Oh, and BTW, our government is also helping out those Sunnis that just so happen to be killing our own troops:

Stick a fork in this war - it's fucking done. The Iraqi government is relying too heavily on us to defend itself. Perhaps they have no choice, and perhaps we never really gave them a good choice on the matter with our own incompetent tactical maneuvers, but I and the broad majority of the public are tired of seeing our military being caught in the middle of this civil war. Again I state:
