And would spend half the time just looking at it. The moment I stopped wasting time worrying about myself, and started practising for real, things got way easier.

i kind of agree with that like practicing and go through the first ideas of "im gonna fail" but then i would say that math is all about logic and some people lack of logic when they need to resolve a case

but i agree with u.....u still with a lot of efforts can manage to reach to some decent thing just that it will take like the double amount of time for some people

Well I guess that's true, but usually there are a couple of stereotype exercises that you solve, and all others are similar only with slight variations. Once you get to understand those stereotype exercises, it becomes more of an automated process of practising, rather than having to think the problem all over again all the time.

Unless you have a teacher that comes up with ridiculous different and complicated stuff every exam. In my first year I had a teacher like that. The fucking bitch gave a grade of 15 (scale 1 to 20) as the highest in an universe of 300-400 students.

I took a test today and only knew how to do 4 out of 15 problems. I have decided to just go to vocational school as retaking this class is not an option in my book. I wish i did not suck at math.

Statistics is easy IMO. No complicated math, no calculus. Basically, if you now basic arithmatic, square roots, and have a good sense of logic, you'll do fine. What's weird was at my school, you had to take calculus before statistics, but there was no calculus involved with statistics, atleast basic and intermediate statistics (ANOVA, linear regression anaylsis, multiple regression analysis, etc.).

You mean CS is your major? How far are you in?

CS was relatively easy here.. Didn't have to work too hard to get a degree (apart from the odd class). Especially compared to programs such as physics.

i recommend to anyone having trouble in their math classes to go get help from the teacher in their office hours early in the quarter. i just finished up econometrics last quarter and its a pretty fuckin hard class, i got like a 30 out of 100 on the first test, but ended up with a B- because i got help somewhat early on and did well on my final. yea, also when you go to office hours the teacher might boost up your grade if you are close because people hardly go. don't wait till the day before the final because that wont help too much.

Well I don't know what's the best translation for it, computer science or software engineering.. it's more focused on the later i guess. The official name is informatics engineering.

I'm in my 5th year, which would've been the final year if i hadn't failed some classes - i'm having to do an extra year to do the final project. The first 2 years were really hard, with a lot of math classes (calculus 1, calculus 2, linear algebra, probabilities and statistics, logic, theory of computability and complexity) and 2 or 3 physics/electronic classes which i sucked at too. Afterwards, it got all about programming which i'm much better at, so it became quite easier, except we have to spend a lot more time working on projects now.

Seriously this is the key to passing any hard course. I always have at least 10 - 15 students who just plain do not get statistics. They suck at math and they fail my first exam. A lot drop, but a few actually set up times to meet, they take more indepth notes, they ask questions and make me go over problems again when they are confused...and guess what....they start to pass.

This semester I have one student who got a 53 on the first exam, 76 on the second and a 93 on the third. All because they started meeting with me and they got a feel for the types of questions they needed to know how to complete.

so id say, stop complaining about the reason you are taking a course, and work towards finding out how you can pass the course. If you cannot find a way to solve your problem (meaning, you cannot pass a college class) then I don't think you are cut out to get a degree.

and I kinda want to take more math courses, I get mathmatics easily but was only required to take an intro class, algebra er something. I remember only getting 2 questions wrong the entire semester.
