Yesss... the 'dope fiend' flatmates.
After the hairdresser from hell a couple of us moved into this huge house down in Darling Point in Sydney with a few other people we 'kind of knew' and at least had a roof over our heads. Where I shared a room with another girl, (I'll call her V to protect the innocent ) that worked at DJ's and we'd make dreadlocks and hair extensions together for amusement, sell them to people for some pretty good coin too. It wasn't too bad except most of the boys seemed to be rampaging pot fiends through the week and speed freaks come the weekend and go clubbing.
They where pretty good people for the most part, grotty like most young people but I had no idea how they where paying the rent in the place which was like about $600week, I didn't care because I wasn't paying much and it was close to work. I'd loan them the car and they'd always fill it up with petrol after they where done, change the oil, plugs and anything else that needed doing.
Well, after awhile V and I noticed on the way to work that I was getting followed by the cops a lot, which being Darling Point and close to the Cross wasn't that unusual but it started getting irritating when we'd end up always being pulled over.
Breathalysed, car searched and 101 cop questions.
Inner city cops aren't exactly subtle, two nice young ladies driving around in a comparatively nice car (Celica GT4 such a pretty car I miss it) wearing our 'gothy going out clubbing gear' basically in cop brain = hookers
( I didn't realise this until several months later when it finally clicked over in my feeble, immature brain... god damn I was stupid! )
I eventually got cranky with this detective one night to the point my loud mouth self nearly ended up being thrown in gaol, it literally happened every 2 days, sometimes 2-3 times a day. Turns out my other 4 flatmates had 'alternative' ways of making a living, they dealt drugs, lots of drugs!
Wisely not out of the house and they probably thought ever so wisely, NOT USING THEIR CAR to pick the stuff up with.
ohhhhhh... 3 months later we end up ID'ing one of them in the morgue after and OD, 4 months later V and I are getting really scared when one hopped in a car with some (big scary, cut the toes off you) associates and disappeared forever (I assume bottom of the harbour somewhere) and we where out of there hundred miles and running!
Didn't say anything, crammed all our stuff in my poor little car one afternoon and went into hiding at V's friends place in Surrey Hills ...and my car got stolen
In retrospect, it was probably best thing for it anyway!
