your local shitshack should have these or you can make one yourself

Word! And thanks for the volume advice guys, that was another thing I was worried about since there's so many threads in here about volume levels being all askew.

Does anyone have any recommendations, then, on a good quality soundcard for my laptop that has Line In capabilities so that I am able to record my mixes?

http://www.roland.com/products/en/UA-1EX/index.html

Both analog and digital ins and outs, small and portable, USB bus powered, ASIO driver support. Not a bad deal for $80.

i can recommend it too. i got it because i got sick of crap sound cards that would add all sorts of interference to the sound.
this is a great card if you don't need balanced inputs.
i have one gripe with it though, the optical output and the headphone output are in the same hole, so if you're like me, using the optical out normally and then at night using headphones it can be a bit annoying plugging the cables in and out.
other than that, no complaints. even the digital input on it works, which i found very surprising as i've tested it on 4 or 5 sound cards before and haven't got it to work on any of them.
