no, not at all.
Nobody's trying to sabatoge HD-DVD (in preference to blu-ray or standard DVD). It's just a fight for consumer freedom and against DRM
What I mean is, now that HD DVD is the first one cracked (unless I missed the boat and Blu Ray has been hacked already - which is probably the case), and that there will be budget players available earlier, doesn't that boad well for HD DVD in the format wars?

they've both been cracked for the past month.
It's just become an internet fad (as of a couple of nights ago) to post it all over the internet
this key has proven to be a "universal" key, whereas it started that you had to examine the playback of each protected movie to extract its signature key. less work extracting the key = more productivity

Wouldn't HD-DVD actually fare worse from it? I mean, the companies releasing movies would surely rather go with a format that is secure, and thus release on Blu-Ray?

I think they'd go with whatever is in people's homes, knowing full well the average user is still probably going to pay for movies.

like sony. PS3's are more expensive in europe than anywhere else, however they've removed features to cut costs such as some backward capabilities. I guess that's fair ?

Dunno. But i find a techno-geek that spends days upon days trying to break codes to rip off companies could spend that same time finding a jobby job that pays him enough to buy the friggen things. Kinda sad.
