IMO you dont need mega bass to DJ.. you need clarity and the ability to identify and isolate important frequencies while blending a mix. And nothing gets better than the HD-25.

Beyond that, it's a question of personal preferance as to how much bass and mids and highs make you feel happy when you're in the booth and mixing... but the HD-25 clarity is hard to beat.

I use Song MDR-V6's for production and just generally listening to music. Their bass response is accurate and powerful, but not overpowered.

For DJing I use HD-25's because I find the MDR's too bulky and less comfortable to wear.

I own the 7506's, but when I was in the headphones market I was really looking at the Ultrasone DJ1 Pro's, anyone have any real feedback on these? As they are more than double the price of the 7506's I'd hope they'd be a damn good headphone, but just haven't heard much about them.

I always believed that until I got this set of phones. I don't know how the heck they do it or what technology they are using...Maybe it's the echo chamber effect of them going in the ear canal, but the "boom" on the Bass-Freq earbuds is awesome.

Besides EDM I enjoy a lot of classic rock and my Sennheiser 595s are amazing for both. I also have an X-Fi sound card for my computer too which helps. I also have a pair of old Sony MDR-600s that I use with my turn-tables and they treated me well. The MDR-7506 are probably the best bang for the buck at around $100 and the Sennheisers 595s are around $180 at the lease. I bought mine from an amazon reseller. I would like to invest in a decent amp next for my headphones or buy a house so that my stereo system doesn't bother the neighbors in an apartment.
