On a side note, if you miss vinyl so much, why not consider buying Serato or better yet, Torq which cheap as chips? Do you already have turntables?

I already have a pair of Technics SL-1200M3D's, which I love. It's mostly a question of portability and cost. I love playing from vinyl, for various reasons, but I can't really afford $12 before tax and shipping for every new track I want to play. I also have been flying between home and college for the last 3 years, and it's really not possible to take several hundred pounds of bulky gear across the country with me on an airplane, and far too expensive to ship. CD decks are light enough and compact enough to either pack with me or have shipped, and I can get 8 songs on beatport for the price of 1 vinyl record (and blank cd's are virtually free, and easy to transport).
If I get a car and start driving between home and school, the portability issue disappears (mostly) but the cost of vinyl remains. And while CDJ's are by no means cheap, I'd probably end up saving money overall by switching at least temporarily.
I've been using Ableton at college thus far, but I've been doing everything mouse/keyboard style, as I mentioned, and it's making me start to feel out of touch with what's going on (not to mention making it really hard to actually do what I want, vice having a physical controller). Maybe a really good hardware controller setup would be better, but it still doesn't have the same physical feel. I'm also letting a perfectly awesome A&H Xone:62 sit in my garage collecting dust, which makes the baby jesus cry.
800's seem like the right choice, because as mentioned, I don't really need 1000's for home use and a club will already have them there for me. SO i guess it really becomes a question of, go with CDJ's at all, or another solution.
