Just and FYI... no one in the real world gives a rat's ass what your BA is in (unless you're going into a highly speciallized field). A BA in Philosophy will get you the same job as a BA in History/sociallism/psychology/gameboy/etc.

The impression I get is that nobody gives a rats ass whether I have a BA, period. I mean I guess it's better than nothing, but I'm not expecting to land some crazy high paying job with it at the end. I do it because it's fun, and it beats the alternatives for my life atm.

No, people care if you have a BA, it's pretty much the minimum for most professions now. It shows employers that you can stick something out, maybe even think. Any BA is good enough for the most part... employers in most professions aren't interested in what you know but how you think.

business/product analyst

man of many technical hats currently but want to start narrowing my focus into a technical director/supervisor for an advertising agency, mainly european or international markets focused.

currently work straddling sales, marketing, finance, and production so I have a good grasp of how plant cost, marketing cost, sales analysis, as well as design. Yes, I know, it sounds like a headache, but I think those are the key divisions to help run any business..perhaps one day I'll own my own business that and will be watching it grow on my treo from some island off of tahiti or hawaii

one can dream right...

honestly i decided a long time ago that i just want to find a company that pays me worth my time...that has growth potential...and allows me the freedom to use my free time to pursue my real interests.

life is too short to live it for a job...i just want a job that will support what i want to do away from it.

What career are you looking to pursue in life?

That's a great career. Lots of money involved...there really isn't any limit to how much you can make, but remember that it's extremely competitive to get into the top investment banks like Goldman Sachs or Merrill Lynch. Also for the top division like M&A and Equity you'll be working like a mofo.

However, if that's your career choice, remember to go to a universtiy that has a great reputation. I can't stress you how important that is for a career in investment banking. It will be very difficult to get interviews if you're only at a mediocre college.

As for me, I'm finishing uni and starting my career in management consulting after summer. Starting salay $70K

Edit:
Those figures you mentioned seemed to be a little too high for staring salaries at least. I have lots of friends in investment banks and in their first year most of them made around 65-100k.

Have fun working 90-110 hours a week. I Know people who enjoy it but that's a real tough one to have and be able to go out with friends later.

So true....I love how people find these obsurd salary figures and they think they will just walk into a first job after graduation and make 6 figures or close to it....what a wake up call they get when they start at $28,000-$35,000 for most jobs...even attorney and physician positions.

A friend of mine got his EE degree and even with 2 years work experience in an EE firm while in college, he was only able to land a job starting at $44k in Atlanta.
