I'm pretty sure about 7, and 10 sounds a lot like it also. probably new, unreleased stuff. He and Oakey are friends, and he was playing 'Waves' before it was released, so....

it's no secret that the POT (Perfecto on Tour) sets are NOT what they claim to be. Besides countless other stories, I was actually at the Oct.12 show in Atlanta, GA (supposedly POT 12) and I can tell you for a fact that the sirius show is NOT the live show he played. So, I suspect that all of them are not what they say they are. Still good sets, but I 'd like to know why they're lying about it.

also - the guy with the sloppy accent is Oakey himself. He sounds kinda spacey most of the time. I met him one time and thought he was drunk or something, but no, that's just how he talks...lol.

I think some of them may be live but most sound programmed. Pauls mixing has improved since he finally started using CDJs in addition to Vinyl, however it hasn't improved this much. He has a notorious problem not mixing tunes "in key" (You know, lining them up correctly after every 16th or 32nd beat so the tunes break properly). I can't recall any sets that have this problem and they all seem to have great mixing. Top that off with the shady declarations of "live from san diego, or wherever" and who knows what the hell we are listening to. I think its just paul sending a tracklisting to his engineer and his engineer sending it to siruis. It surely isn't him mixing live though.

I honestly don't care. They're great sets. Better than anything I've heard since the 1999 EM World Tour from him. So if lying and having the sets preprogrammed is going to get me quality music, so be it. He's always been shady, but there isn't anyone in the world with a better ear for a tune. Keep bringing them. Is there going to be 33 POT's since its called "Area 33" ?

yeah, the whole thing is confusing.

As far as this show, no, Oakie wasn't there (as mentioned), Felix Da House Cat ended up playing Crobar.

And in an earlier episode that was "supposed" to be from Chicago back Sept 30th '07, that tracklist was nothing like what I had seen in person.

What a mess!

he mixes all of his sets in key. I think you misused the term.

He used to be the king of mixing in key and in phase, but both have been lacking in the last few years. He still does mix in key, but mixing in phase is not as good as it used to be.

These sets are far better than what I am hearing from most other trance DJs.

Guys, there is one sure way to tell if you are listening to an Oakey live set, or just a set for the radio. When he mixes live, at a show, he loves to mix in a few bars of the next track, over top of the current track. If you know the songs really well you can hear the beat, or if you are watching, its his patented knob/whole body/twist.

Also, he always plays with more intensity, and anxiety in a live set. If it sounds laid back, it was done for radio, if it sounds up beat and energetic, its live. I think these sets are a combo of some recorded at a club, some at in a studio.

Also, his mixing is really that good when he wants it to be. Every time he is in Toronto, I pay very close attention to his mixing, and he is very good. He always tries in this city, and I have seen him 10+ times now here. He has the skills, whether he uses them or not, is a different story.

Could not agree with you more. So regarldess of if its a real mix or not, the tunes are great.

I agree, kind of. If you listen to his sets from 99, especially the EM world tour sets, most are AMAZING and the key progression is perfect, but A LOT of the mixes are off phrase. Best example I can think of is the Ibiza 99 EM, probably one of the best live sets I've ever heard. Whole set is in key, many of the mixes actually change key, giving the mix that whole "changing gear" feeling, building the energy like crazy. but, at the same time, a good portion of the mixes from that set are off phrasing. so, I think he's always kinda been the king of playing in key and, you're right, when he wants to, his mixing is flawless, but I'd say for the most part his phrasing and beat matching is not the best I've ever heard.

I don't think anyone we'll ever let him live down that Essential mix from the last year or 2 (I think it was Ibiza). So horrendus. Its really a shame that he didn't care or maybe was fucked up that night...

Is it phrase or phase? I've always heard phase.
