never knew it's that hard to setup, how much do you think the unit at Guv's cost?

I've actually never been to Guv (it's on my "to do" list) but I'd say from pictures I've seen, it's probably a krypton laser, putting out 3-4 watts of laser light.

Costs about $13,000 for the laser and about another $8,000 for scanners and software.

I'm not sure about the rules for lasers in Canada

I heard that it was worth $100,000.. but my source isn't that reliable.. I'm sure you know more than him.

You are a lot closer to the mark on cost

Last time I took a good look at it It was a 25watt Coherent Sabre white light mixed gas tube (Argon/Krypton mix) with a closed loop water cooling system.
It had an extremly efficient PCAOM (colour changer crytal)very good white balance(essential for all the colours) and is by far one of the best laser setups I've seen for a long time and my Job for 5 years a lifetime ago was with a laser company.
I can't recall how many positions are on the table , but I think its a 20 position table and each position can theoretically output up to 4 beams
plus there is also the scanning head and I think they were using the GE G120 galvos instead of the more accurate but hellishly tempremental/expensive cambridge technology CT 6800's
Control system last time I saw it was Pangolin.

Setting up a laser display from planning the beam paths to alligning the mirrors can take days to do properly/atistically , So I am sure once the Renovations are complete (dust and debris is the lasers enemy) the show will be back

Holy shit... and I thought the Guv was growing new sharks to fit into the new laser harnesses.

Heck guys , Lasers are no rocket science, like any job you learn whats relevant in your field. Mine is club A/V so it goes with the territory

Whilst i don't work for Charles (most people know where I work) I have to admit that when he buys something , he always buys "right" and never seems to worry about the price as long as its the right equipment.

Same goes for the Liquid Nitrogen, I am not familiar with who did Guv's system but it is very similar to the work done by Kryogenifex. Who are considered the worlds leaders is Nitrogen systems.

I think you are very correct on that one
Shhhh....you're giving away the secrets

Thanks for the tech breakdown dude, I was WAY OFF, $100,000 is much more like it.

I must say that 25w is a buttload of laser light to be used indoors in a club setting, I hope they don't have it at full power. (flash blindness can occur at just a couple of watts)

I use Spectraphysics mixed gas lasers operating at only 18 watts outside to illuminate BUILDINGS, no wonder people like the lasers at Guv.

I remember the first time I went there.. I was in complete heaven. It was like I was walking into my first club all over again. I now compare every club to Guv. You should come by and check out their laser show sometime.
