Every 30 min or even every hour is alright. At least you know when it would come. Every few subway cars I'd be happy with.

why does everyone think that laws and services should revolve around them?

last call is at 2am, deal with it.
if you must drive then dont fucking drink.
if you must drink then make sure you have a responsible designated driver or have enough money for a cab (or be comfortable with sleeping on a park bench) since public transit does not operate throughout the night.

its definately time to abolish last call.

Last call is a relic of a by gone era that used government intervention to ensure that people would show up for church on Sunday morning.

last call..

Or push it back to 1AM and extend the bars an extra hour. Also, reduce the costs of bottled water or give it complimentary after last call. Do whatever it takes to make ppl more responsible and sober.

Vancouver extended its hours from two to four but then ppl started going to the bars even later. Same issues there, as in Ottawa: club district gets encroached by condos. These condos do advertise nightlife as part of the package, so not all condo-dwellers are against clubs there.. just maybe new ones that prop up near their property.

this is why we should not extend last call.

We should ABOLISH IT completely. Then people will come and go from clubs naturally.

What's interesting is that pretty much any "problems" that exist today in clubland actually stem from artificial government intervention.

Exactly. Even if it doesn't run often, as long as you know the schedule, you can time your exit from the club so that you catch the bus, and if you miss it, waiting for another hour inside the club is a piece of cake. It just sucks how people are completely stranded downtown if they missed the last subway/bus out of there.

Not a fan of taking the vomit comet but I do. I'd rather subway it back though in the winter. I'd wait somewhere where I'd feel comfortable that way. Instead of randomly near some bus stop outside. So far it's every half hour which I'm alright with, I don't know how consistent that is, seems like every hour...meh.

It's important that we all unite to fight back against the injustice that is being served on all of us on behalf of condo owners who should have known better when they bought into the area.

If I were on Facebook, I'd join Jay.

Most of the people moving into these downtown developments are all coming from other places where they're used to their quiet.. cricket chirping sounds at night...and think that in CANADA's largest city...they can somehow capture and retain that by turning it into 1 huge small town. Ridiculous. The problem is that most of these new condo developments are looking to attract the young couple, person who's a jet setter, urban lifestyle looking individual who'll enjoy the surroundings, clubs, bars, etc... but what they're actually getting are older folks (baby boomers) who have all the $$$ to purchase them ..some deciding to sell their 905 houses now that the kids have left and would like to live in the city close to all the amenities. They're the ones complaining.

As for the TTC, when I used to work the night shift out by kipling I would jump on the train...and it was virtually empty everynight. Their just isn't enough riders in general to justify an all night service. I am in favor of extending the hours, spreading out the frequency at which they run, but we all see that they're struggling for ridership on an overall daily basis. Let alone at night.

hmmmm. Have last call at 1AM and close the bars at 3.. give ppl two hours to dance and sober up afterwards. As I said earlier, make water more accessible during these hours (instead of charging an arm and leg).

Abolishing last call is the slippery slope to more drinking and driving, and other alcohol related issues, imo.

How? abolishing last call means no more power drinking. It means that people wont be forced to drink excessive amounts in a short time. It means that people can leave at all hours of the night, not all at the same time.

All night booze works in most of the world and it would work here. Last call PROMOTES drinking and driving by kicking drunk people out at the peak of their intoxication.
