It really is sad that there's no Dance station in Tel Aviv - the Dance capital of the Middle East, or at least a Top 40 station that plays the international hits 24/7 that young people listen to.

Amman, Jordan has THREE Top 40 stations, and two of these stations feature Dance shows where even some Israeli House and Progressive Trance artists are featured:

http://www.mybeat.fm/
http://www.ahlenfm.com/

Even the government-owned Pop station, Radio Jordan, is Top 40 most hours of the day

Cairo, Egypt has Nile FM:

Morocco has Hit Radio

Lebanon has some of the oldest Top 40 stations in Asia - Radio 1 started in 1983. Mix FM is very Dance friendly and features Dance shows by the likes of Pete Tong and Armin. There's also a Radio Energy, like the NRJ station back in France:

Istanbul, Turkey has TWO underground Dance stations:

All of the big cities in Turkey have the following Top 40 stations, and they all play a LOT of commercial Dance and House 24/7:

http://www.powerfm.com.tr/
http://www.radyomydonose.com.tr/

Dubai, UAE has Channel 4:

Nicosia Cyprus has a bunch of Top 40 stations, and even BFBS Radio 1:

http://www.dancefm.com.tr/
http://www.kissfm.com.cy/
http://www.mixfmradio.com/
http://www.choicefm.com.cy/

And what does Tel Aviv have??? A bunch of radio stations that are all usually playing the best of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today all day long. No Top 40 station, no Dance station, no Alternative Rock station, no Hip Hop station, no Oldies stations for Adults, etc.

It's not about donating money. It's about the fact that Israeli radio hasn't improved that much since the mid 90s when the first local and regional commercial broadcasters came on the air. They're all stuck trying to immitate Galgaltz (Radio Tel Aviv 102 FM) or Reshet B (Radio 103 Lelo Hafsaka), or the old sound of Reshet Gimmel (Radio Jerusalem 101 FM) instead of carving out a niche for themselves.
Israel is the most western-style country in the middle east, and its economic success is much closer to Europe and the U.S. then it is to its neighbors. Yet radio-wise Israel is still behind the times. It could have had by now this kind of radio dial:
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bi...tate=tn&x=0&y=0

Or something along the lines of Holland where a lot of the commercial stations have transmitters all over the country:
http://freenet-homepage.de/c.kalten...Niederlande.htm

It's not about donations at all. It's about Israel having a commercial radio station like Fresh FM or Slam FM. It can focus on Tel Aviv and central Israel, or better yet it can have listeners from Eilat to Haifa, Jerusalem to Tel Aviv if given several transmitters.
I realize there's bigger things to worry about in Israel then just the lame radio dial, but if Israel can have 3 statewide television stations and numerous cable channels, then it can also have a good radio dial. We're in 2007, not 1957.
