Epicly bad...

I know your ass isn't talking about me. I spun before the guy in the Fidel Castro hat playing Cheesy Electro House.

No, I only caught the last 10 minutes of your set so I can't comment on what it sounded like. The Hat dude was terrible though.

Yup I agree. For some reason or another the dj's that come to San Antonio tend to not give a flying fizzuk and play stale sets 9 times out of 10. Its a shame. Remember the Ferry show at Sky back in March 06 and the guy ripped the venue in two. Its a valid generalization that in San Anto, when dj's come they bring their old stale moldy tunes and mix horrendously. But, when in other Texas cities they tend to bring their A-game. Its just a shame they cant come down to my town and actually educate these julio wankers. "Its all about the money" as Bunny says!

Oh and Dave did have a crappy set

If he was worse than he was in Dallas all I can say is I'm sorry any of you had to go through that.

I don't blame Ferry for his performance. He did his best with the audience given to him. The energy from the crowd was horrible. Just a bunch of people standing around not dancing, and so if you wanted to dance, you bumped into the logs standing around. Personally, I think the show was best after 2:00 when everyone who was there just to drink and take up space left. Then the crowd was nothing but true fans there to have a good time. The energy changed almost instantly after these douche-bags left. Its no wonder why San Antonio hardly ever gets good show, people who go don't seem to care.

I can't speak for the headliners, but shit man, whenever I always came to San Antonio I always brought the entire arsenal. The only problem is the majority of Julios in the S.A. scene ya just can't educate.

The crowd was bad but that is typical for a US trance show. However I 100% blame Ferry for his appalling track selection and transitions. Perhaps he should have used Ableton to help himself out.

Actually, that crowd is NOT typical. Almost every show I have been to in TX (except San Antonio) have been AWESOME! Everyone dancing and not holding back, and the energy in the room was intoxicating. In San Antonio, people are too worried about not looking cool, or they stand there wondering who the DJ and when will it be time to leave.

The only good San Antonio crowd was for Tiesto at Cowboys last year. That show was a blast. I do look forward to the show this year and am keeping my fingers crossed that the crowd will be loose and resemble the previous year.

so to sum it up: san antonio sux.

o wait, tiesto is coming also. i'm sure that's going to suck also.

i'm sure if pvd, sasha/digweed, carl cox, would come it would suck also.

here is the real deal...
when you have a headliner continue to come back and not try other headliners out, the city WILL get stale. i know it's more business, but if your a BIG DOG promoter that has access to talent, then your crowd should trust your judgement. how do you want to measure success...by how much money you put back in your pocket, or you can have a combination of exposing the city to a variety of global talent.

it sucks for the smaller guys because WE are trying to bring in a variety of talent. there is even FREE events on a certain Friday in San Antonio to help achieve the goal of exposing people to different faces/music. it's a slap in the face when people decide to go to other cities to hear no-show dj's, but that's okay that those dj's don't show up though. what do you get out of it...gas money spent...hopes those dj's will come back...please. if you haven't learned by now, i guess you never will.

another issue is getting a weekend date and trying to have a headliner exclusively in your city. those two will diversify the crowd of the different cities and at the same time educate others that it's okay to express yourself on the dancefloor.

As much as we would all like it if promoters decided to act like charitable organizations, that doesn't make them any money, and it's never going to happen. The only way it'll change is if a scene is healthy enough that you can get a good crowd with lesser-known people. Until then, there's nothing you can do about it without getting your own hands dirty.
