you are definitely Da Man... your experience really shows. great job. |
Glad I could be of assistance
My Girlfriend works for a Computer Forensics / Digital Investigation Software
Company and we see this stuff quite often, so I could spot this one a mile way...
new "member"- nothing to say other than a link to some t&a- huge red flag.
I was pretty confident it was spy/malware, so I wanted to see just "how bad"
this file was infected- I'm kind of a nerd that way... lol I've definitely seen
worse... far worse, but regardless- it's a virus that doesn't need to be spread.
Problem is, when you click on the link the page that you go to automatically
redirects, and tries to install the exe file- pretty slick and pretty common for
these types of cases. From what I gather it looks to be a private information
(e.g.. bank account #s passwords.. etc etc...) collector/ gatherer type of Trojan,
but I'm not 100% sure about that- just a guess
Good thing is, Swamper deleted the post shortly after I contacted him, (or
whoever the Mod was at the time) so hopefully no one got infected with this.
oh yeah- If you're ever in doubt of a file and it's contents, here's a pretty helpful
(free) site that does a fairly descent job of scanning files (under 10MB) and
detecting viruses / malware.

ok- enough of that crap... lol back on topic
(Sorry Junior!)
Cheers,
-D
