yeah, but generally these people are so devoid of personality or character that it doesn't really inspire me to want to put any effort into it, specially when they aren't necessarily people i enjoy being around.

furthermore, nothing pisses me off more than when i get a person to enjoy great music, and they piss it all away.

ie. back when i was 16, i already knew my way around the local clubscene, enough to get myself into most clubs without problems. i had made a friend from school start listening to house, got him to listen to Steve Lawler, made arrangements for when Lawler came to play, got us both in the club, and even managed to meet up with Steve and get pics and autographs. my friend hung his autograph on a wall.

a few months later he takes it down, and puts up a crappy reggaeton guy's autograph he got. i asked him why not keep Steve's up, to which he replied that that guy was cooler.

NEVAR AGAIN!

Just got back from that party. It was a success! The only problem was that the system was shitty. My mixing was as tight as can be and those teenie boppers seemed to like my track selection as well. The setting was pretty unique as it was a pool party. I dropped a few top 40 remixes and I had people cheering when they heard proper education. Most of my set was electro house, but I moved into progressive towards the end.

Thanks for all of your tips. I'm now really itching to play out again.

I was gonna say this: high schoolers listen to top 40 and hip hop....i can help you build a playlist if you want but the thing is this event should have minimal electronic music. As much as you and i love electronic music, its not mainstream enough to highschoolers that they would enjoy it...

looks like i got proved wrong....good job! knowing your crowd is always key though

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised when some of them started cheering and that I actually got compliments. I was expecting assholes coming up and telling me to "turn off that techno shit," but that didn't happen.
