Like what, acoustic drums and guitars? Then all rock should be called psytrance from now on.

I meen stuff like... fake endings etc that are special to psytrance... surely you can tell the difference between a rock song with guitar and a dance (or psytrance) song with guitar. I guess its kinda borderling so not gonna argue it.

I'm a big fan of guitar psy (aka buttrock goa), and IMO S.U.N. Project are the masters of this style. I've heard all of their released albums & tracks, and haven't found anything I don't like yet.

You can check out some samples at www.sun-project.de

If it's done to compliment the track rather than used as a novelty, then sure.

Unfortunately, I've noticed the latter tends to be more the case.

i find that 90% of the time guitars are used in a badly done way that it just makes the tune sound shit. Psy is the worst for it because the beats and basslines are very smooth and rounded as opposed to the guitars which are very analogue and metallic. This combo usualy goes bad if there isnt enough roughness to the texture of the non-guitar parts.

There has been the odd tune which do it in a much better way to fit the riffs into the track creating a nice interesting synergy, rather than make it sound like a guitar tune dumped over a beat. Theyway this is achieved is usually by breaking down the guitar riffs and using them in interesting manners or reconstructing them to flow with other parts of the track.

for most of the times, and especially when it comes to israeli full on guitars are awful. the same goes for Infected Mushroom, Skazi and 1200 mics.

one of the very few decent israeli tunes it works well within is this one:

sample

however there are a few more exeptions. System 7 makes great groovy psy stuff and it works really well there.

remember that both him and her are in their 50s :-)
