Dang Chilean team was practicing on our turf in Mississauga last Sunday Afternoon delaying our game by an hour!
If I would have know earlier I would have showed up earlier and tried to get comped a tik or two! lol

Brazil vs Poland on CBC now
According to CBC 98000 advance tickets sold.
Pretty nice. I guess all the immigrants want to see some quality footy cheering for their homeland

for that game?? Crazy..
According to Fifa:
quote:
Finally, after months of eager anticipation, the world's finest youth players are on Canadian soil, ready and waiting to get the action underway. And the setting could hardly be more ideal. From the gentle summer temperatures to the lush greenery, and of course the characteristic friendliness and open nature of the Canadian people, the 24 finalists are sure to feel right at home. Ticket sales have been equally encouraging, with total sales of well over 900,000 recorded a week prior to the tournament.
I'm stuck at work and can't watch the games...yes, they do have all the games Live on Fifa...we can't watch them cause Canada is "blacked-out"...yay haha

Final score, Poland 1-0 Brazil
Yep. Upset.
Brazil couldn't get anything going to a well organized Polish side who despite a man down for 2/3 of the match hung on for the win.
Southampton keeper Biakowski had a great match being solid throughout the game.
Polish attackers did just enough to keep Brazil honest with counterattacks.

South Korea 1-1 USA
Didn't catch 1st half but sounded like Korea was running rampant which continued in 2nd half. US only got some offence during set pieces with their height and strength being dangerous, but Korean keeper played very well.
Watching Korea was like watching Brazil play. Because of their smaller size, they use quickness and technical adeptness to create chances and throughballs and long balls were too much for US defence to handle at times and only US keeper and the crossbar prevented a Korean win.
Was very impressed with the play, the hustle of Koreans the most.
The entire Korean team needs a frigging haircut though. They all want to look like Liu Kang or something

Argentina 0-0 Czech Republic
Argentina had plenty of possession and chances but can't convert one. Czech Republic looked really lethargic.
North Korea 0-0 Panama
Watching the replay and I'm very surprised by the quality of play from North Korea. Not as flashy as their South Korean cousins, but I think even more individually technically gifted as I saw some really crisp throughballs and crosses. Very quick to launch on counterattack. Defence is a bit shaky though.
Only reason North Korea didn't win was Panama's 16 yr old keeper Mejio who made 5 world class saves. If he keeps this up, I think some clubs may be interested in this dude.
North Korea could be dark horse of this group, if they keep their defence tight.

Argentina vs Czech Republic next.
Both goals in that US vs S. Korea game were spectacular. The US goal is by far my fav. so far in this tournament.
