Yeah, but I mean... it's entertainment. Some artists start just for the fun and love of it, realize there's no money there, and then change their style. Only the best rappers can get away with that. Nas & Jay immediately come to mind.

In anycase, my main point was always that there is definitely good hip hop out there. First, you have to dig a little deeper than 97.1 and 105.1 to find it. Second, you have to be slightly more open minded and realize that hip hop will never again sound like it did from '93 to '98. Music evolves. That's just the way it is. If you're hoping that one day you'll hear something like '93 'til Infinity on the radio, you'll be waiting forever 'cause it isn't gonna happen. But... dig around a little bit, and you'll find stuff like this:

honestly Hip Hop is dead in the commercial world, the rap music that is being played today(if we can even begin to call it that?) is not hip hop what so ever its plain garbage...which is no different then all the rest of the shyt thats being played on a constant basis on the radio (punk, emo, pop, etc) all that sounds the same and it just comes to show that its MONEY above CREATIVITY before anything if your looking to be famous these days. I think today its just about artists or groups not realizing that they are being manufactured like toys...

how about adagio for strings.....i've also heard a bunch of other classic songs (i mean from generations ago) getting ripped.

How bout all the rock songs that are remixed into trance, house, etc.... Chasing cars, tainted love, that shit counts as ripped also. Just cause a song is remixed doesn't mean it wasn't ripped, the core beat was sampled to make the tune.

i would actually go so far as to saying that edm rips A LOT....think about all the remixed songs that are out....i can think of a few off the top of my head: anna nalick - breathe, snow patrol - chasing cars, sarah mclaughlin - silence, there are soooooo many, im sure we could have a huge list by tomorrow.

Daft punk took half of their samples from disco songs made in the 60's, so i dont see the big deal if someone else samples them.

Hip hop from started from cutting and sampling and older songs.

Also there is a big difference between sampling and ripping off.

I do however hate kanye west and love daft punk but from an artistic point of view, they are very similar.

first off... hip-hop does not exist anymore. it went from a 'cultural movement' if you will, to a marketing tool. and besides, 90% or more of rap music is sampled. so whatever. although i do feel that kanye west is a little too blatant about it. he's like a p diddy wit legitimate rhyme skillz. and better choices in what music he steals. as long as daft punk is getting paid, whatev. btw, i was always curious... in hip-hop, if you sample someones beat, they are usually getting the majority of the revenues. like, p diddy either has to buy the rights or license the rights to every song he produces. so that artist, or if they are dead, they're family collects the royalties. do they work like that in EDM? cause fucking EVERYTHING gets remixed. so like, if armin spins something at a club by another producer, does that other producer get paid a royalty???? id be interested in knowing
