Marie, it's one of the hardest things you'd ever have to do. You probably remember I had to choose to do it for Ben last year, just a couple of months before his 5th birthday, but the problem wouldn't have been solved by operations or drugs, and the pain & general lack of wellbeing would've made his life hell. I cried for days but I know I made the right choice, I just wish I didn't have to.

Right now, my puppy (7.5 months old) needs an x-ray after landing funny & possibly damaging her knee/foot ligament wise. It's gonna cost a lot, and she goes in Thursday. I'm gutted about it but I know I'll have to be there with her when she wakes up from the anaesthetic.

how know exactly how it is.. i had a doberman who had the exact same thing and was 14. i knew the dog since the day i was born. and it was like a piece of your own body your gonna have to miss.. thinking about it still makes me cry, and its about 5 years ago now.

I'm sorry to hear that :-/ I know it's hard losing a pet you've had for such a long time. But yeah, spend some time with it and give it love before the time comes. Never forget the good memories.
