A lot of good rap exists. You shouldn't spread ignorant viewpoints like this; it's a stereotype that people will accept just because they can't be bothered looking past the genre's commerical representation to find the good stuff. I agree that most rap that is played over the radio and on MTV and shit went to hell a long time ago, but at the same time you have producers like Blue Sky Black Death and Jedi Mind Tricks who, I think, stay true to the hip hop style and continue to push the envelope. |
First of all, I said MOST rap.....
Ignorant viewpoint......ok dude. It comes from years of following rap, DJ'ing in HS and college at clubs that played pretty much all rap, etc.
It's a stereotype that the genre has put on itself, after rappers like Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Digable Planets, Lords of The Underground, UGK, RunDMC, Craig Mack, & Wu-Tang Clan laid the foundation of the 90's rap movement for guys like P.Diddy & Shug Night to destroy. Instead 95% of todays rap is nothing but shit......pushing the envelope went out the window a long time ago in that genre
It's not a stereotype, it's what the genre is....

I'm not saying your viewpoint is ignorant, just that the one liner you originally posted gave off the stereotypical "rap sucks" vibe. I agree that the majority of rap these days is bullshit, so I'm not defending today's rappers, but the genre itself. Respect.
