I saw this today, and I have to say I disagree with a high number of posts in this thread.

I thought this film was absolutely terrible. Awful filming, terrible functioning storyline, cinematography was just ridiculous.

However I did catch a couple parts of the soundtrack that had some EDM elements to it, that was the only exciting part in it for me.

Good examples for me would be...

  • Lord of the Rings (Trilogy)
  • Children of Men
  • Green Mile
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Bourne (Trilogy)
  • Lord of War
  • Three Kings

Well, anything with Spielberg included seems to get a nod from me really.

Movie got a 'meh' from me. Was stronger at the start, got silly by the end of it. Seemed like they just wanted excuses to do "neat CGI space scenes!" and a few moments felt a bit too contrived so they could pop in a neat-CGI space scene. I'd say it was like, a 3 out of 5 stars - save it for a matinée or a download.

I think someone said this before, but it was a lot like Event Horizon, I also thought it could have used more "earth" scenes, it all took place in space without really showing you what it was like on earth (until the end I guess). Overall though it was an OK movie, too bad because it had lots of potential and really nice visuals.

Gotta say that I enjoyed Event Horizon more - the theme of the supernatural evil was established fairly early on in the movie and got carried out nicely.

In this movie, there was not much of a super-natural 'build' at all, it seemed sort of tossed in and didn't fit as well as it should of, and its when the movie started to go downhill IMO.

No.

And most of xXx's soundtrack was heavy metal or rap. Although the club sequence with Orbital was pretty cool.

Yeah, apparently my 8yrs of classical and orchestral studying aren't registering very well.
