you pay a little more, but the rewards are great.

benefit > extra cost

Actually 200 to 800 is more like Smart to Wrx, and the 1000 is the sti.

I think people are kind of missing the point here.

I was kind of hoping for a debate. Why would anyone spinning trance and not scratching go for a CDj800 when they don't need scratch, adn the pitch increment on a CDJ200 is better. Are the bells and whistles on an 800 really that much more worth it than cdj200? to what extent and why?

AS a trance (and occasional progressive) DJ, I think the CDj200 is actually better for ones purpose than the CDJ800.

most of the people who say not, I would daresay have never really used the 200s. I find the .02 increment really helpful for cleaner mixing (its over twice as accurate as .05), and the jog wheel isn't really that necessary for clean mixing, and you get used to it anyway. The fact that they have a pitch% read out alone makes mixing really easy once you get used to them (ofcourse teh 800s do too).

Would you not agree?

800 has better jog wheel
IIRC 200 don't have vinyl mode and a lot of DJs do use that

I personally don't mind 200 but would take a lot of getting used to

I used to use a cmx3000. It's got wave display, hot cues/loops, same pitch accuracy as the 800(0.05) but with pitch bend buttons it's easier to make minor adjustments on long mixes. so i'd think of this as pretty similar to the 200 in this argument.
I sold and moved to 800's, not because they're better to mix with (the 3000 it definately better in that regard), but because I found it more fun mixing on the 800 with scratch cueing, power downs and the like. Not better, just more fun.
not saing you'll think the same way, just presenting why someone who didn't scratch might prefer the 800 to something like the 200

I see your point...

I'll let the thread die now... thanks for you contributions everyone... I still think CDJ200s make more sense for trance and house DJs
