speaking of struggles and good hip hop. there's a good Talib Kweli album i remember listening to at my friend's place called Beautiful Struggle. i'd recommend that and in fact i think i'll go buy it myself today.

this is my view on the state of hip hop today. its not actually in any state its in a transition period. before the millenium hip hop depended alot on the mc. They did not have the tools or the technology to produce the instrumentals/ beats they produce today. and alot of production was really whack. alot depended on mc's. You only made it big if you had incredible skills. However with the introduction with superior equipment and tools the beats got better and hip hop started relying less on the mc. Today beats are incredible. every new song has a new sound to it (beat wise) and hip hop relies more on the beat and image then it does mc skills. all u need is a catchy chorus on top of a sick beat and boom u have a single.

however it wont stay like this. Hip hop still depends greatly on the creativeness of the mc and the beats a like. so people will shun off from hip hop because of the whack mc's that get to step up to the mic. as we see int todays hip hop culture. "too many mc's not enough mics". and slowly hip hop will start fading away from the mainstream again. However, itll be back and badder then ever. the true mc's/innovative mc's who have been around forever, and have alkways sold records, will stick to it. and they will learn once again how to overcome the beats with their wordplay, and once again hip hop will flourish.

thats how i see it.

and its true. if u put on any new album of some of the most classic skillful mcs of our age, you'll be blown away. sure they dont talk about booty booty booty booty everywhere! but u cansee how beautiful the wordplay and the amazing beats mix together intodays hip hop. and that will be the future of hip hop in those mc's

Lil wayne is not what the future of hip hop should be, they had this special on MTV this week about who's the best new MC's right now and they put Lil wayne on the #1 spot followed by T.I. and game. They had the nerve to put Common at the #9 spot when he should've been a alot higher. Hip hop is a joke lately, there's no real lyricists anymore with a few exceptions. These are the 2 hottest tracks out right now, real hip hop.

I was feelin the new Common album but as far as upcoming albums go the only ones I'm lookin forward to is Wu-tang's 8 diagrams and Raekwon's only built 4 cuban linx 2.

yeah its fuckin ridiculous. I dont know how lil wayne even gets a mention anywhere. i blame the problem on illiteracy. keep the rhymnes nice and basic, so the black who dropped out of ninth grade doesn't get confused with large vocabulary. just imagine that buying a cd and scratching ur head for all 90 minutes of it

btw that rakim and krs one song is sick
