so should i even bother removing the components if i just put the tower in a suitcase?
not sure they'd let me carry on all those pieces of electronics.

i wouldn't leave your HD in there, and I would pick up a hard drive enclosure from an electronics store. Good for storage/travel and if shit goes down and your pc stops working you can always access your files from another PC.

if anyone can point me to the direction of a recommended guide to swapping cases that'd be cool
i guess then all i need to take with me are:
motherboard
disk drives
hard drive
graphics card
sound card
fan unit?
do all cases have proper housings for these?
If you do decide to end up going with pulling the important components out - Yes, All cases will suit your motherboard. You can pickup a fairly cheap mid tower case with PSU and power cable from most known computer stores. If you do it this way you also wont have to worry about the power adapter differences.
Catch is you have to build your machine when you get there. So just use the instructions 'Allied Nations' posted and you should be right. Take your motherboard manuel to..You'll need it. Worst case scenario - PM me. I'm a computer technician when im not a dj so i should be able to help.
As for the fan fitting, All you need is the cpu fan (and yeah.. you might also want to take the cpu) .. Personally i left the cpu cooler on and stuck the motherboard in the motherboard box and it all fitted fine.
It all comes down to how much confidence you have i guess, If you think you'll be fine to build your computer then go for it.. It worked fine for me and i got lazy and didn't follow a lot of common sense rules. Otherwise its going to cost you money/space but hey.. Less work more Producing/DJing!
