it encourages people to buy it, imo. some people dont have record players, granted lots of stuff comes out on cd, digital is cheaper, i like it better, cuz you get it right when you buy it. i dont see whats wrong with everyone.

The fact of the matter is that digital distribution is here to stay, and if you want to close the doors to literally millions of tracks and artists because of some stubborn and ignorant belief, you're the only one who is going to suffer.

Funnily enough the only people I've seen suffering are the people who are telling me I am wrong in my "stubborn and ignorant belief". I have never missed out on a single release because it has been digital only. And until that day comes...

Come now Nik, I thought my disclaimer was pretty clear

Never have I seen you give what I would deem an ignorant reason for doing what it is you do, I understand you've got your own standards and clearly respect that.

But just as in the vinyl vs. CD debates, and every "Is trance dead?" thread, the topic of digital distribution has become as stale and boring as Sean Tyas threads and as irritating as American politics.

It's here, and it isn't going to go anywhere - so rather than simply choose to say "Fuck it," why not make a push for different methods of quality control that are actually relevant to what's happening in the music industry today?

In an ideal world we'd have WAV, MP3, AAC, CD, vinyl, tape and DAT releases so that every crazy bastard can have the music in their favourite package. This isn't an ideal world, and I don't see any problem with digital releases, so...

I was talking specifically about albums. As far as singles go, I agree that digital is the way forward but for albums, I will always prefer a cd and if its digital only, i would be tempted to file share it
