does your mechanic stand by your car and refuse to let you drive out of the shop if you don't tip him?

how about a nurse at the hospital?

in this country, tipping is mandatory. as in, you get charged an extra 10%, which goes to the server. and still, they all expect tips. worse, some people, as in, other costumers, will look at you weird if you decide not to tip. it's amazing.

unless you work 100% off tips (which is a shitty deal), in my opinion, and i have worked minimum wage, 10 hours a day, no commission in an autoshop (so working in a restaurant can kiss my ass) you should not expect a tip as the norm.

I don't even count %, I usually go like this; even out the change to the higher dollar, then add 1$ per item served (if the service was adequate), 1$ total if the service was sub-par. That usually ends up being around 10%. I'm not rich and I'm not generous so If they don't like it they can get another job. Those few waiters/bartenders that I tip more are the ones who exceed my expectations.

There's this bar I go to on a weekly basis. One time I wanted a drink and the waiter who was in our section (most terrible waiter I've ever seen actually) didn't come see us for about 30 minutes, so I just got up and went to the bar to order my drink. Then when he passed by he gave me shit (twice!) for bypassing him. Needless to say I never tipped the guy again.

oh, yeah, i also love the mother******s that you DO tip, one day, cuz you were feeling generous, and they won't even offer a motherfucking smile in return.

What I hate is when you're at somewhere like Denny's or Shari's and they hand you a receipt where you're supposed to fill in the amount of the tip you're giving them. Like, I usually tip anyways unless the service is right shit, but I reeeeeeeeeeally don't like to feel as though it's an obligation. That's why it's called a "tip."

When I worked a job that paid tips, the Jews were actually the best tippers. I can name the worst ones if categorized by ethnicity, but would rather not since I'd rather not be blown up.

Tipping at a business meal is considered a tax writeoff, and you write the amount on the receipt.
