Not really. If anything, the advent of McProg (such as Whiteroom) has re-seperated prog house and trance so they sound distinctively seperate again. There were only really two times when prog trance and house sounded much the same. The first was about 1995, and the second was about 2001.
Why must you lie all the time?
Nobody listen to this guys, he's full of it.

Blue Amazon, Marc Mitchell, Way Out West, BT... were all releasing records which are hard to classify in the meantime (1997, 1998, 1999). Even today you have people like Eelke Kleijn and Luke Chable who are doing prog. house that sounds like prog. trance and can be played in every other prog. trance set. I would say from 1995 onwards it's really hard to distinguish these two...

I associated Deep House with slower bpm house (let's say < 122bpm) with soulful elements and deep moody melodies (ie not peak time in your face stuff). It can have vocals or not and it can have some subtle bass work (not necessarily the kick) that makes you feel good.

Er... Deep house has been around longer than nearly all forms of dance music. It's just seeing a bit of a resurgence lately due to the fact all the kids that got into electronic music in the late nineties have begun to mature in their tastes, seeking for a refined sound with soul, funk, jazz, etc.
It does get coined 'Dad House' for a reason.

Like any genre Deep House is flooded with a bunch of generic tracks. But if you dig through well enough you will find some awesome stuff.
My personal favorites that I have discovered so for:
Slope Feat. Desney Bailey - Keeping It Up (Henrik Schwarz Remix)
The Rhythm Slave - The Light You Will See (Trentemøller's Dub Mix)
JohNick - A Breath Of Fresh Air (Henry Street Reprise)

Deep House is jazzy, soulful groovy stuff made by black people in Chicago and San Francisco.
Progressive House is drolling, monotonous stuff that's too stiff and unresponsive to be deep, soulful or funky, made by white people in Europe.
haha, pretty much.
progressive house is a terribly broad and non-descriptive term. Basically I would say that progressive house is house music which gave up its blackness for whiteness. Kind of like if a genre of music could be Michael Jackson.
also, deep house sucks, don't listen to it - real cool kids listen to minimal
psst listen the vintage italian set i posted
