I never said I think tribal is bad, I just find it utterly fucking boring - the sets people have told me are "legendary tribal" are almost always good for the first 5 minutes, then nothing happens. Ever.
I can respect that other people like it, but it just doesn't do it for me.
And as opposed to drum & bass, which I pretty much have written off completely without even really giving a ton of it a chance, I tried, really, really, really hard to get into tribal. I mean really, really, really, unbelievably hard - and I just didn't get it. |
I like playing everything, I think anyone who just plays tribal or just plays minimal is gonna be boring. So yeah, theres a few tribal tracks I really like that I can sometimes use, but I agree that most of lawler's pure tribal sets get boring, and sometimes he'll drop some pretty shit tribal (or with horrid vocals) in the middle of good tunes (I blame lack of good music or inability to diversify).
As for DNB, thats another discussion, but I do like the liquid stuff, my friend is heavy into it and produces, I'll try and send you some of the tracks I like to see if they do anything for you
I think the only genres I have pretty much consistently held a middle finger to are Gabber and Happy Hardcore. 99% of that shit is just really bad noise.
