Yep, when we went through Scotland a bit over a year ago the girly wanted to try one as well. I had visions of driving along in our rental with the interior slowly filling up with spew to about window level.
I've actually found a greasy spoon near where I live that deep fries them as well... needless to say, I will never reveal where it is.
