So I dug through all my old CD's and found my favorite Picotto set, and possibly my all time favorite set by any dj. Mauro Picotto - Live @ Inner City Amsterdam. (Woody, if you're reading this, you're the one who burned that set for me).
Holy fuck... flash backs of how HARD Mauro used to be. Hard, banging, relentless, undulating/driving basslines... unpredictable banging drops, strong/sudden mixes... teasing a small sample of the next song he is going to drop, about 1 minute before he actually drops it... and that signature sound effect he used to make...
I'm picky as hell with music, but listening to old Mauro sets still puts me in awe.
If I got the chance to pick between a trip to Hawaii (hotel/flight paid for and everything), or to witness a 6 hour Picotto set like what he used to play in 2001-2003... I would rather experience a Mauro set.
Although he obviosuly doesn't play like that anymore, his recent essential mix was fucking MONEY... dirty minimal tech-house. Looking forward to what he is going to give us on Saturday.

6 hours!???
does LA get lots of techno dj's these days? in the 6 months I've been here I don't think I've seen too many. Maybe Carola but none else.
