Doesn't this outrage Americans??!
Why would people voluntarily join an army for a gov't that does shit all for them. They aren't even properly taken care of when injured, and their families hardly get shit when someone dies.
That is such bullshit.
Gah! I hate the American gov't so much more now it disgusts me. |
so you read ONE article and made that judgement on everything. you of all people i thought would have some kind of open mind about this kind of stuff.
especially coming from someone who was waiting in the hospital "on death's door" yet your canadian gov't told you to just sit there and wait.
people join the services for a numerous amount of reasons, same way people join or want to get hired by businesses. The armed forces is just a business, when you really look at it. we get paid to do a job...its just our job's mission may differ from oh, say, microsoft. but do microsoft employees get health care? yup. and would they get "workman's comp" if injured on the job? sometimes/depends on the situation.
Generally speaking, if someone was seriously injured, and could no longer serve in the armed forces, they would receive compensation for it. this is GENERALLY speaking. there's always those outlying cases where circumstances (sp?) change the outcome. but you hear about this in the civilian world too....Mr. John Smith works at factory 'A', gets severely injured on the job, can't work, but because he wasn't part of a union, or for whatever other outlying reason, doesn't get workman's comp or whatever. has to sue business to get any kind of money.
