Not that much. When I turned the TV on and saw (live) the 2nd plane hitting the WTC, I thought an epic war was going to break out in the US. I feared for the death of innocent civilians because of a bellicose leader messed up in the head. This would be a major even in World History, because a global power would be brought down to its knees by fundamentalist rebels, and we'd hopelessly hate such shameful acts.
Turns out I was partially right.
The war happened in relatively unimportant countries, and the deceased are now as important to World History as those who perished in Darfur. Unfortunately, in a hundred years, they will most likely be part of a footnote in an encyclopedia. Once another president steps in, we'll find out that little has changed: the Middle East will be a mess, Afghanistan will be a poor landlocked country in Central Asia and America will be... America.
