I typically can't stand women like Carrie, who chase after men who are a poor reflection of their own self worth...and I hated Big up until the last episode.
I love love loved how he found her there in Paris; crying, dress ruined, in a mess with her pearls strewn across the hotel lobby, and you could tell he really loved HER. She was at her utmost self in that moment, and he loved her for it. It was all the more impacting when contrasted to her relationship with Petrovsky. |
that episode was *brilliant*. I challenge anyone who followed the series to not get all choked up at that point
agreed about Carrie...she was also a bit of a flake. It was hard to figure out exactly who she was and what she wanted...because she was/is fucking crazy. Big seemed so wrong for her, yet they had a ridiculous chemistry together. Unfortunately, it was only when they were together, separated from the entire outside world. As soon as it was them in the context of their actual lives, it all went to shit. fuck, his character has some serious charm though...
That he really loved her became apparent the moment he walked into the girls' usual brunch place after Carrie had left for Paris. He would never go out with her and her friends, or do anything as a 'couple', let alone really talk to any of them. so for him to show up and basically say to them "help me"...that was huge.
one of the best lines/moments of the series, IMHO...Samantha ditching creepy Richard after he fucks her around yet again but says that he loves her. "I love you too Richard...but I love me more" and then walks out. nicely done.
