I have not heard the tracks featured on this mix that often, maybe one or two. I'll wait till the cd comes in the post and come to a conclusion on it then.

The cutting edge dj is ova..people wait for thursdays so they can simply click away at what digital stores tell you is hot. listening is optional these days..its all about hype, marketing and the thousands of shit labels that pop up daily.

In other news.. Zack de La Rocha completes solo artist album.. ROAR!!!!

Maybe for some, but certainly not for all.

Epitome of "overrated."

LOL

Advice: Get out and explore the local scene and unknown artists. Cutting edge "big name" DJs? Yeah, maybe not so much. However, there's a plethora of unknown artists who are doing some really neat stuff.

Assuming both Voorn and Garnier will be playing the same timeslots, I'm definitely not missing out on Garnier.

My sentiments exactly. I would much rather see voorn live PA style.

My apologies for noticing your empty location in your profile. I still stand by my point, regardless of location.

Never, not even in Rage - and further he's a hypocrite and one of the most guilty parties in the war to commodify social justice into easy to purchase packages.

But that's a rant for another day...

Because of this I am taking the high road and just not a review.

The reasons are two fold:

1. I don't think I know enough about the track listing to write one.

2. I don't want to offend anyone who might tell me that I should just not listen and care if I don't like it.

Music discussion threads are places where like-minded people can share positive reviews about the music they mutually love. And if you small minded, sarcastic, bitter-because-nothing-good-is-coming-out people can't grasp this simple, non-threatening concept that is designed to hinder real discussion from ever happening, then leave.

Oh yeah, and don't listen either.

There have been lazy DJs throughout every era of EDM. The people who let Beatport charts dictate their taste today are the same ones who went to the brick and mortar record store yesterday to just sort quickly through the new releases and pick up the obvious choices. This is not a new phenomenon, it's just a lot more obvious now that we can have a whole crate's worth of tunes delivered directly into our hard drives.

The fact of the matter is this: a good DJ will stand out from the pack and shine brighter than the others, as he always has. Digital distribution has made it things a lot easier for lousy and exceptional DJs alike. I simply don't understand this mantra that Beatport will be the death of our music.

I also don't understand this obsession with expecting a mix full of brand new tunes. ESPECIALLY in a commercial mix CD. If you're going to spend money on a CD, it's kind of a given that you're going to be listening to it for a long time. If the tunes are good enough to withstand the test of time in your CD library, then they should be good enough to have stood the test of time from their individual release dates. Likewise, if a piece of music is worth buying, it should be good enough to play 6 months, a year, two years, five years, ten or more down the line. Some tracks definately get played to death, but still...

I'm looking forward to hearing this.
