oooh, just found out: enigma's Camera Obscura is all backwards. if you reverse it, the guy sings some of the lyrics from the other Enigma songs, like "stand up, join us" and "we have the power".

i just don't understand how a backwards message is supposed to subliminally affect you.

I have a friend who has the origianl Opus iii - Fine day record, and he played it backwards, anyway, it turns out that the vocals from Orbital - Halcyon + on + on are actually the singing from Opus III sampled, and played in reverse. Once you know this, it actually becomes obvious after hearing both those songs as well. (Try it)

btw, I know it was orbital that sampled opus iii because the original verison of fine day came out in 1991, and halcyon didn't come out until a few years later.

they used to use that in the 50-60s in the movie theaters in the united states to sell coca cola drinks....until it became illigal to do that

the subliminal messages produced by coca cola were actually pictures that they displayed that lasted about a 100th of second.

i dont know either. But with the coca cola thingy aparently the images that were displayed (like people having sex and happy things) were meant to stimulate everything that is good so that you related it back to coca cola and hence you want to buy it. the images were displayed so fast that you couldn't decifer them consiously but another part of you brain stored them and off you went without even knowing that you had just been manipulated through advertising.

clever little buggers

Oh I saw this thing on TV a little while. It was about the Devil-Church crazy people that thought that the Devil was going to take over the world but it was really freakish to listen to Stairway to Heaven backwards and hear crystal clear the something welcoming devil and cheering him. It is in the middle of the song twice. The track is almost 8 min and after you played a lot of meaningless stuff the two phrases come along, it is creepy.

heh sorry guys but i did some research on this stuff cause it was freaking me out...anyway heres a quote from a site i went to talking about zeplin's stairway to heaven song:

"Are they effective? If they were subliminal messages played forward, then scientists agree that the brain could and would process the information. But scientists are also convinced that the brain cannot decipher backwards information unless it is specifically engaged for that purpose. Therefore, even if backmasking did exist, it would be useless. So much for Satanic intent."

there you have it.....the brain can not process these messages

If u want to hear an mp3 played backwards, u can use a program you haven't used for years .. good old windows Sound Recorder.

Rip your mp3 into .WAV format, open it with Sound Recorder, and goto Effects -> Reverse.

Et voila

And yeah, like disctelli said, subliminal messages (even those coca-cola split second image ones), have been proven several times to not work.
