Eh I disagree, she writes her own stuff (lyrics), and her vocals as whiny as they can be at times, are miles above what Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are capable of in terms of genuine emotion.
Ayumi's second album, while not a trance record, does have some nice dancy stuff on it with some nice synthwork.

to hell with britney. i think she is not attractive at all.
ayumi is a lot better than britney in terms of talent. my brother loves all of her music. though i am not much of a fan of hers, there are a couple of tracks that i like.

pop music in asia has gotten dance-oriented since 1999, or perhaps even earlier, when we had gouryella, system f and such. there was even a chinese remake of gouryella - walhalla, with male vocals from a famous singer in hong kong, which was utter crap. thats the deal with asia, especially in hong kong, always looking for a trend to follow.
