i used to be SympatiCRAP *cough* i mean sympatico's bitch for 2 years when they first rolled out DSL service in the Kitchener/Waterloo region. at the time, it was decent. no 'bit caps', semi-decent usenet service (which degraded to hell in a very short time). but, after seeing what cable net could do for me, i'll _never_ go back to DSL given the choice again. if i have no choice, then i'll take DSL over dialup (obviously), but if cable is available, TAKE IT!

now i've heard through a few sources that Rogers (and prolly bell) is going to implement bit caps bigtime....and also start offering packages, etc....if this happens, we're screwed. unless we start up some NAN (neighbourhood area network) co-operatives anyone with me??

same here, I D/L way over 5GB per month. I hear that Rogers won't be capping bandwidth, but instead they will be capping transfer speeds... have to see how all of this plays out, but I have the feeling we'll all get screwed by Bell/Rogers in the end...

SonaPort is some new highspeed internet service provider that uses wireless connection i believed based on the 802.11 standard except it's higher speed and more secure than both 802.11a or 802.11b.. i'm gonna look around for more info on this for you guys .. they're due to come out in the next couple of months and compete against Rogers Cable and Bell HSE..

oh and about those NAN's .. heh i'm all for it , infact i'm gonna try to set one up with 2 other friends this summer .. :]

let ya guys know how that goes heh ..
