And let me just clarify that I didn't mean minimal isn't "good" music since that's obviously subjective. I just always find the "I didn't use to like genre xx but then I heard it in a club..." comments a bit weird.

to me minimal doesnt really set a mood.

trance is very uplifting, house is more cheerful, chillout/deep house you listen to at lounges.

i wasnt to sure if there were space for minimal in the club.

You've probably only been listening to EDM for a year or so right?

Dance music doesn't have to set you a mood except the mood to party.

Point is I can't dance to it, which would render a night out pretty pointless. Some stuff with beats is just as out-of-place, like Broken Beat... imagine the spazzed out moves you'd have to pull. I guess it'd still be good music, but I wouldn't appreciate it.

You have no idea, do you? Find a club with proper Minimal, go to a few of their nights and then get back to me. I have never come home so sweaty and sore from dancing as I have from dancing to Minimal. It works, and it works well.

Minimal can be just as "uplifting" as Trance, as "cheerful" as House, etc. Experience it before you talk about it.

trance and house are pretty broad...hence the reason they all have different sub-genres to "set" different moods, but still that doesn't constrain it

As opposed to the 12 year old, who's gonna claim he's been listening to it for 6 years now after he reads this post...

Seriously:

age shouldn't really matter. Now a days you can get music from all past years.

Seriously, wtf is your problem? Do you still live with your parents and mommy doesn't give you enough attention anymore? FYI I've been listening to EDM since I was 12 and now I'm 16, if it makes you seem any more ignorant. You should think twice before you touch your sticky keyboard.
